What you'll love about the area
Capendu is a charming, lively village in the Aude. With shops, a boules ground and its café-restaurant. Its prime location between Carcassonne and Narbonne makes it easy to explore the whole of Cathar Country. Just 15 minutes away, Carcassonne and its famous medieval citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, captivate with their ramparts, towers and the Château Comtal. Narbonne, 30 minutes away, reveals its rich Roman heritage. Gruissan and its famous beach with its chalets. The Canal du Midi, a UNESCO site, runs just a stone's throw from the gîte and invites you on lovely walks or bike rides. The castles of Peyrepertuse, Quéribus, Lastours, Puilaurens and Montségur bear witness to a fascinating history. The abbeys are also well worth a visit. The vineyards of the Corbières and the Minervois, the Mediterranean beaches of Gruissan and Narbonne Plage, as well as the local Aude cuisine — cassoulet, charcuterie, cheeses and Languedoc wines — in short: a stay full of discoveries.
