Welcome to gîte Les Sureaux, a charming old stone house in Mathieu in the Calvados, between Caen and the sea. We welcome you to our 80 m² gîte for a holiday that combines the pleasures of the sea and the Normandy countryside, just 10 minutes from the beaches of Luc-sur-Mer and Lion-sur-Mer. The gîte has a particularly cosy 20 m² living room with its central fireplace, exposed beams and stonework. 12 m² dining room, fitted and fully equipped kitchen with multifunction oven, dishwasher, washing machine and hob. One bedroom with a 140 cm double bed on the first floor and an attic bedroom with 2 single 90 cm beds on the second. Enjoy the 600 m² walled garden, a true haven of peace for relaxing outdoors. Garden furniture and barbecue available for your family evenings. Netflix accessible with your own login details. A Calvados gîte ideally located between the D-Day beaches, the Normandy countryside and historic heritage.
What you'll love about the area
Mathieu is a charming, quiet rural village in the Calvados, ideally located 10 minutes from Caen and right next to the beaches of the Côte de Nacre. A perfect starting point for discovering the treasures of Normandy, between the sea, history and rolling bocage. Immerse yourself in the history of the D-Day Landings of 6 June 1944 at the Mémorial de Caen, the unmissable museum for peace, and the countless museums and historic sites along the coast. Visit Caen, a medieval city with its castle, its Abbaye aux Hommes and Abbaye aux Dames founded by William the Conqueror, and its lively pedestrian streets. The picturesque fishing ports of Ouistreham, Courseulles-sur-Mer, Port-en-Bessin and Honfleur will win you over with their colourful boats and seafood restaurants. Typical Normandy villages such as Beuvron-en-Auge and Pont-l'Évêque, with their half-timbered houses, are waiting to be discovered along the Camembert route.
