What you'll love about the area
Moulins-sur-Céphons, in the Indre, is ideally placed for discovering the Berry: châteaux, gardens, characterful villages and museums within a radius of around 40 km. The village itself already has a medieval feudal motte, a dolmen and an old church.
The Château de Valençay deserves several hours: château, gardens, forest, deer park and little theatre, continued in town by the « Sur les pas de Talleyrand » trail.
For garden lovers, Bouges-le-Château is a real favourite: beyond the château, its 80-hectare estate offers a proper walk through a cut-flower garden, arboretum, pond, landscaped park and former stables. The Domaine de Poulaines rounds off the visit.
Further afield, the ZooParc de Beauval, Nohant and George Sand's house, Levroux and Châteauroux.
Berry local produce with Valençay AOP cheese, Berry green lentils and Valençay wines.
