I welcome you to Xexiliri, my B&B nestled in the village of Uhart-Cize, just a stone's throw from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, in the heart of the Basque Country. I offer a comfortable, cosy 11 m² room with a double bed and its own adjoining private bathroom to preserve your privacy. Direct access to the outside without passing through our home.
Breakfast is included in the price and carefully prepared every morning to give you a delicious start to your day. I attach great importance to welcoming guests and to Basque conviviality, so that you truly feel at home from the moment you arrive.
It's the ideal place for pilgrims on the Way of St James (Camino de Santiago) stopping over before crossing the Pyrenees, GR10 hikers starting or finishing their traverse, and more broadly all guests looking for an authentic discovery of the Basque Country.
What you'll love about the area
My room is located in Uhart-Cize, right next to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, one of the most beautiful towns in the Basque Country, listed among the Plus Beaux Détours de France.
You can walk to the town centre to discover the Vauban citadel, the legendary Porte Saint-Jacques (the historic starting point for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela), the cobbled lanes and the shops selling Basque specialities. You are at the crossroads of two major routes: the GR10, which crosses the Pyrenees from west to east, and the Way of St James, of which Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port is a legendary stage before crossing the Pyrenees.
The Spanish border and the famous Ventas are 6 km away. When it comes to food, don't miss Ossau-Iraty cheeses, Espelette pepper, Bayonne ham and Irouléguy wines. A perfect location for hikers, food lovers and anyone passionate about Pyrenean heritage.
If you love the sea, Bayonne and Biarritz are 50 km away.
