What you'll love about this property
At Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille in Haute-Loire, we welcome you to our gîte on the ground floor of our villa. A self-contained 40 m² place with an exceptional panoramic view over the Gazeille valley and the Velay plateaux. The gîte has a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy living room with television, a comfortable bedroom with a 160 cm double bed and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. Everything has been renovated and designed with your comfort in mind. Our terrace, sheltered by a pergola, is a real joy. Garden furniture, sun loungers and a barbecue facing a breathtaking panorama. In summer, we'll be happy to share with you the tomatoes, courgettes and other treasures from our 300 m² vegetable garden. And if you feel like it, an aperitif together at sunset over the valley is one of the simple pleasures that make a stay unforgettable. Fenced 2000 m² property, parking in front of the gîte. All shops 300 metres away. Absolute peace and quiet at an altitude of 930 m.
What you'll love about the area
Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille is the village where the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson began his famous journey in 1878 with his donkey Modestine. The GR70 Stevenson Trail starts here and attracts hikers from all over the world. Our village is well worth a visit with its 12th-century abbey church, its château housing the museum of popular beliefs, and its cultural centre. UNESCO-listed Le Puy-en-Velay is just 18 km away for an unmissable day of sightseeing. Mont Mézenc at 1753 m and the resort of Les Estables are 15 km away, ideal for skiing in winter and high-altitude hiking in summer. The wild Loire flows 7 km away. For thrill-seekers, the Recoumène viaduct 1.5 km away offers bungee jumping and seven zip lines suspended 50 metres above the ground. The lakes of Bouchet and Issarlès and the Beaume waterfall offer swimming and picnics in the heart of nature. Farmers' markets, river fishing, donkey trekking, mountain biking and horse riding round off the activities.
