La Maison du Fermier is nestled in the heart of the Millevaches en Limousin Regional Nature Park, one of the most unspoilt and least populated areas of France. A wild natural setting of deep forests, rolling meadows, peat bogs and rivers.
Lac de Viam, 2 km away, offers a lifeguarded beach in summer, swimming, fishing and walks along its shores in a peaceful setting. The other lakes of the plateau, such as Lac de Vassivière with its contemporary art centre on the island, are close by .
The Millevaches plateau is a paradise for hikers, with waymarked trails through woods and peat bogs. Mountain biking, river fishing, wildlife watching and mushroom picking in season fill the days .
The towns of Meymac, Eymoutiers and Treignac offer heritage, markets and Corrèze cuisine. With its wide open spaces, lakes and forests, the Millevaches plateau offers a complete change of scene.
