Le Chalet des Marées is located on the doorstep of the Baie de Somme, ranked among the most beautiful bays in the world and awarded the Grand Site de France label. The seal colonies can be observed from the banks on guided nature outings. Salt-meadow sheep graze in the unique landscapes of the estuary. Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, with its medieval lanes, its harbour and its restaurants, is just 4 km away. The Baie de Somme railway, a historic steam train, links Saint-Valery to Le Crotoy, running alongside the estuary. Cayeux-sur-Mer, with its famous colourful beach huts and its pebble beach, and the Hâble d'Ault bird reserve are 8 km away. Le Tréport and its chalk cliffs, among the highest in Europe, round off the coastal outings, 20 km away. Walks and bike rides, guided crossings of the bay on foot, birdwatching and discovering the local cuisine with seafood and salt-meadow lamb.
